Stagger

In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Stagger is an effect that interrupts an enemy's action, causing them to recoil or be pushed off balance. This temporarily removes them from combat, potentially allowing you and your allies to land free attacks or reposition. Stagger can vary in intensity, with some attacks causing a slight flinch and others sending enemies to the ground.

Key Aspects of Stagger

  • Interruption: Stagger breaks an enemy's current action, such as an attack or movement.

  • Vulnerability: Enemies in a staggered state are less dangerous, as they cannot attack.

  • Damage Bonus: Some weapon blessings or talents, such as those that increase stagger, can cause staggered enemies to take more damage.

  • Varying Power: Weapons and abilities have different levels of "stagger power" or "impact" that determine how effective they are at staggering different enemy types.

  • Enemy Mass: Larger and tougher enemies have more "mass" and are harder to stagger than smaller, weaker foes.

  • Control: Stagger is a form of crowd control that can be used to manage hordes of enemies or to prevent elite enemies from attacking.

  • Visual Cue: Staggered enemies are often indicated by a distinct visual animation, such as them stumbling or falling.
