Corruption Resistance
In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Corruption Resistance reduces the permanent health damage taken from sources like Grimoires and environmental hazards such as Pox Pits and Poxgas. It does not reduce the initial, one-time 40 damage from picking up a Grimoire. There are two types: General Corruption Resistance, which affects all corruption sources, and Grimoire Corruption Resistance, which specifically reduces the steady corruption damage from Grimoires. Both types stack multiplicatively, meaning their combined effect is less than the sum of their individual percentages.
Types of Corruption Resistance
General Corruption Resistance:
Provides resistance to all forms of corruption damage, including Poxhounds, Poxgas, and the side damage from the Daemonhost.
Grimoire Corruption Resistance:
Specifically reduces the steady, ticking corruption damage that comes from carrying a Grimoire.
How It Works
Damage Reduction:
Corruption Resistance reduces the damage to your permanent health, bypassing your Toughness.
Multiplicative Stacking:
If you have multiple sources of corruption resistance (e.g., from different curios), they are applied one after another, not added together. For example, 15% and 20% corruption resistance would give approximately 32% total reduction (1 - (0.85 * 0.80)), not 35%.
No Effect on Initial Damage:
The initial chunk of corruption damage (40) you take when picking up a Grimoire is unaffected by Corruption Resistance.
Is It Worth It?
Situational Utility:
Corruption Resistance is most useful in high-difficulty missions where you might be carrying Grimoires or encounter more sources of corruption.
Padded Safety:
It can provide a small buffer to your health against constant corruption, especially in long missions with Poxgas.
Trade-offs:
You often have to choose between Corruption Resistance and other stats, like bonus health or extra Wounds, so you need to evaluate which is more beneficial for your playstyle and team composition.
