Cleave Targets
In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Cleave Targets determines how many enemies a melee weapon's attack can pass through before the swing is stopped. A higher Cleave Targets stat allows your weapon to hit more enemies, while a lower stat means the weapon will stop sooner, hitting fewer targets. The amount of Hit Mass of each enemy also influences this, as enemies with more mass consume more of the weapon's cleave potential.
How Cleave Targets Works
Weapon Cleave:
Every melee weapon has a cleave value indicating its ability to pass through enemies.Enemy Hit Mass:
Each enemy type has a "Hit Mass" value that it subtracts from your weapon's cleave.Hit Stop:
When a weapon's cleave value is reduced to zero or less by hitting enemies, the attack stops.
Examples
A weapon with high cleave can cut through many Poxwalkers in a single swing because each Poxwalker has a low Hit Mass.
A weapon with low cleave might stop after hitting only a few enemies, especially if those enemies are heavier (have higher Hit Mass), like a Crusher.
Cleave Damage
It's important to understand the difference between "Cleave Targets" and "Cleave Damage":
Cleave Targets: How many enemies you can hit.
Cleave Damage: The reduced damage your weapon deals to the enemies after the first one hit.
