Dump Stat
In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, a dump stat is a weapon stat that is the least important to your build, allowing it to be safely kept at a lower value while maximizing more critical stats like damage or penetration to achieve a stronger overall weapon. This concept comes from RPGs, where players strategically sacrifice less useful abilities to improve others. Common dump stats include Mobility, Defense, and Warp Resistance, though the best dump stat varies significantly depending on the specific weapon and your personal playstyle.
How Dump Stats Work
Prioritize Key Stats:
The goal is to reach the maximum effective value (often around 80%) for the most impactful stats on a weapon, such as Damage, Penetration, or Critical Hit Chance.
Sacrifice Less Important Stats:
Instead of striving for a high value in every stat, you accept a lower value for the stat that provides the least benefit to your weapon's effectiveness.
Benefit from Min-Maxing:
By focusing on the stats that matter most, you can "min-max" your weapon, creating a more potent tool tailored to your specific needs.
Common Dump Stats
Often a dump stat for ranged weapons and melee weapons, as its primary benefit is increased dodge distance and sprinting, which can be less crucial than offensive stats.
Similar to Mobility, Defense provides a small damage reduction and increased dodge distance, but is frequently sacrificed for offensive power.
Warp Resistance (Psyker):
For some Psyker staff builds, particularly the Blaze Force Greatsword, having a lower Warp Resistance can be beneficial, as activating its special move immediately generates a large amount of Peril, which synergizes with other talents, according to this Reddit post.
On some heavy stubbers and other weapons, the Collateral stat has minimal impact at higher values and can be considered a dump stat.
Finding the Right Dump Stat
Weapon Specificity: The best dump stat depends entirely on the weapon in question.
Build Synergy: Some dump stats can be offset by other talents or equipment. For instance, a lower Defense can be compensated for with increased stamina regeneration.
Playstyle: Players who constantly move will find Mobility more important than those who prefer to hold a position.
