Brittleness
In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Brittleness is a team-wide debuff that reduces an enemy's armor, allowing all allies to deal more damage to them. Each stack of Brittleness effectively lowers the target's armor rating, bypassing a percentage of their defense and making armored enemies like Crushers and Maulers easier to kill, especially for teammates with less armor-piercing weapons. It is essentially the same mechanic as rending, but applied to the enemy rather than the player.
How Brittleness Works
Armor Bypass:
Brittleness reduces an enemy's armor, allowing attacks to ignore a portion of it.
Team-Wide Effect:
This debuff benefits the entire team, not just the player who applied it.
Armor Tier Reduction:
Each stack of brittleness effectively lowers an enemy's armor by one tier, making Carapace armor, the hardest armor type, more vulnerable.
Increased Damage:
By reducing armor, Brittleness allows for higher overall damage output from the team.
Stacking:
Brittleness can be applied in stacks, with more stacks leading to a greater reduction in armor.
Why Brittleness is Important
Boss Killing:
Brittleness is highly effective for quickly bursting down bosses and other tough enemies.
Support Builds:
Support-focused classes can apply Brittleness to make armored targets vulnerable for the whole team.
Team Cohesion:
It encourages teamwork by creating vulnerabilities that any player can exploit, leading to greater team DPS.
