Damage
In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Damage is the numerical value your weapon inflicts on an enemy's health bar, but it's influenced by numerous factors like armor, weapon modifiers (Blessings and Perks), enemy weak points, and the specific type of damage the weapon deals. Your weapon's "Damage %" stat on its inspection screen is a relative indicator of its overall damage potential and is affected by the enemy's armor, and different damage types.
What Damage Is
A Percentage of Power:
Your weapon's base damage is modified by its own percentage stat, which represents how good it is for that weapon type.
An Outcome of Calculations:
The final damage number is the result of several multipliers applied to the weapon's base damage, including:
Talents and Auras: Character skills and team buffs.
Enemy Armor: Different armor types (e.g., unarmored, flak, carapace) have different damage reduction values.
Weak Points: Hitting weak points, like heads, results in higher damage.
Damage-Over-Time (DoT) Effects: Some attacks apply lingering damage, which can also be modified by weapon power.
Key Factors That Influence Damage
Power vs. Damage:
Weapon "Power" is a general term for performance, while "Damage" is the specific number that reduces an enemy's health.
Some weapons are better at cutting through armor than others, leading to more consistent damage against armored foes.
This stat is a multiplier for weak point and headshots.
Blessings and Perks:
These can provide specific damage increases or other modifiers that can dramatically change a weapon's effectiveness.
How to Check Damage
The Meatgrinder: You can visit the Psykhanium (the training area) to test weapons and see the specific damage they deal to different armor types and body parts.
