Crowd Control

In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Crowd Control (CC) refers to the game's ability to manipulate enemy movement, actions, and positioning. A weapon's Crowd Control stat increases its attack speed, stagger power, and the amount of enemies its attacks can hit. Players use crowd control to manage hordes of enemies, prevent them from overwhelming the team, stop powerful elites, and create openings for teammates.

What Crowd Control Does

Attack Speed:

Weapons with high crowd control may attack faster, allowing for more hits and potentially clearing more enemies.

Stagger:

This refers to the ability to knock back or stun enemies, interrupting their attacks or movements.

Cleave/Impact:

Crowd control increases the weapon's ability to hit multiple enemies with a single swing or strike.

How Crowd Control is Used

Horde Management:

Crowd control weapons are excellent at dealing with large groups of weaker enemies, keeping them at bay or clearing them out quickly.

Preventing Enemy Actions:

Abilities like a Psyker's Surge Staff can stop specialized enemies, like Gunners, from firing or stop a Pox-Burster from exploding.

Setting Up Teammates:

By staggering or interrupting enemies, players create openings for their teammates to attack or reposition, which is particularly helpful when a team is overwhelmed.

Examples of Crowd Control

  • Ogryn: Uses heavy weapons and his grenade to stagger large groups of enemies.

  • Psyker: The Surge Staff's ability to stun enemies is a prime example of qualitative crowd control.

  • Zealot: A Flamethrower is effective at melting down large groups of enemies.
