Special Action

In Warhammer 40k: Darktide, a Special Action is a unique ability tied to a specific weapon or item, activated by pressing a designated button (often a mouse side button or bound key). Examples include the Ogryn's Maul and Shield activating a Defensive Stance to block incoming damage, a Lasgun activating a torch for better visibility, or a Devil's Claw sword enabling a parry followed by an attack. These actions provide tactical advantages, utility, or damage, making them a crucial part of a player's combat toolkit.

Examples of Special Actions

The Defensive Stance ability blocks frontal damage, doesn't consume stamina, and allows you to tank special enemy attacks, though it immobilizes you.

Activates a torch, providing light for better visibility in dark environments or during events like Ventilation Purge.

Allows you to parry incoming attacks, automatically transitioning into a powerful follow-up strike.

Why are they important?

  • Increased damage: Some special actions can deal significant damage to enemies.

  • Damage reduction and utility: Others, like the Defensive Stance, provide utility and can significantly reduce the damage you take.

  • Situational awareness: Functions like the Lasgun's torch can be essential for navigating specific mission conditions.
